The following outlines the procedures for school cancellation. If a snow schedule is announced for the Brentwood School District, school will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will close at 3:00 p.m. On days when we are following the snow schedule, students may begin arriving at 9:20 a.m.
Every reasonable effort will be made to keep the Brentwood schools open during severe weather. If hazardous weather conditions make it necessary to close school for the day, an announcement will be sent out over the school email and telephone messaging systems. The announcement of school closing will also be broadcast over the following stations:
KMOX (1120 AM)
KSDK Channel 5 News
KTVI Channel Fox 2 News
It is important for students to attend school regularly; however, on severely cold days, the parents make the final decision regarding the health and well-being of their children as to whether or not the student should attend school. We respect the parents’ right to make that decision.
It would be unusual that students would be sent home once the school day has started. However, it would be wise for parents who are not home during the day to have made arrangements for their child to be cared for in the case of an emergency situation which would necessitate closing school early.
IMPORTANT: The Brentwood Board of Education places high value on the instructional time provided to our students. It has long been the practice to extend the school calendar into summer when days are missed for inclement weather. When school days are missed for inclement weather, families should assume that the school year will be extended and plan accordingly.
