Welcome to Ms. Mitchell's Fourth Grade Class :)

Hi, and welcome to fourth grade J  My name is Anne Mitchell, and I am excited to be your teacher this year!

I grew up in St. Louis and attended high school just down the road in Webster Groves.  I went to college at Southwest Missouri State University (now just Missouri State).  I have been pursuing my Masters in Communications with an emphasis in Reading at Webster University.

Through my teaching career I have had experience with a range of age levels, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.  I taught Kindergarten for several years in the St. Louis Public School system.  I then took a year to explore different areas and substituted for Kirkwood, Special School District and Lindbergh.  I ended up staying and teaching 4th grade in Lindbergh for 4 years and loved it.

Next came Eddie!  I took time off from classroom teaching when he was born.  I couldn’t quite give up the classroom, and remained active - volunteering for five years in the Lindbergh School District and for four years in the Webster Groves School District.  I served on a Webster Groves Elementary’s PTO as a Communication Officer.  I truly value the vital school to home connection and I encourage you to feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have at amitchell@brentwoodmoschools.org or 314-962-0613 X 5015.

During my classroom hiatus, I also worked for Affton Parents as Teachers as a Parent Educator, which included assisting with Kindergarten screenings.  I used this time to complete my Character Education Certification.

I live in Webster Groves with my son, Eddie, and our beloved beagle, Scooby J. In my spare time I love swimming, hiking, camping, reading, and just having fun with my family and friends.  I look forward to learning more about you!
