BRENTWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT PLACES PROP E ON APRIL 7 BALLOT

The $29 million bond issue will be used to rebuild and renovate the two Brentwood elementary schools: McGrath and Mark Twain.

{January 22, 2020} BRENTWOOD, MO – During last night’s open session, the Brentwood School District Board of Education voted to place Proposition E on the April 7th, 2020 ballot. Prop E is a $29 million bond issue to rebuild and renovate the two elementary buildings.

“This is an opportunity to continue the work being done at the Middle and High School to ensure that future generations of Brentwood students have the high quality learning facilities they deserve,” said Brian Lane, Brentwood Superintendent. “Thank you to all who participated in this process to plan how best to support our students.”

Brentwood School District will host an informational event on February 6th at 6:00 PM to provide background and next steps related to the bond issue. The public is encouraged to attend.

Prop E comes as part of the strategic facilities planning process. Phase I of the process examined the needs of the secondary schools and resulted in the passage of Prop B, a no-tax-increase bond issue that allowed for renovations to the Middle and High School. Phase II has focused on the elementary buildings with Prop E providing the funding to completely rebuild McGrath Elementary and heavily renovating Mark Twain in order to bring both buildings up to modern safety, accessibility, and learning standards.

Successful passage of Prop E would result in an additional forty-seven cents per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation. To see an estimate on what this would cost a specific homeowner, please visit our Prop E informational page and click on “Property Tax Calculator.”
