Dear Brentwood Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of Brentwood School District buildings for the remainder of the 2019-2020 School Year. School districts throughout the St. Louis region have met with local health experts to determine the best course of action for the health and safety of our community. Together, we’ve come to the conclusion that in the interests of our students, staff, and community at large, it is best to finish the year via virtual learning. You can read a copy of the St. Louis County release by clicking here

The circumstances surrounding COVID-19 are unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetime. Families across the country are struggling to adapt to changing needs as a result of this pandemic. Now more than ever, it is important for our community to work together to support our students. Our buildings may be closed, but Brentwood will continue to be here to support our students and families. Teachers and staff are working hard to continue to provide quality learning and support to our children. This will not change. We are here for you.

I know you will have many questions about what the remainder of the school year will look like. We have put together an FAQ which you can access by clicking here. Decisions will still need to be made about some topics, but for now, please focus on continuing to care for yourselves and your family. We will work with you to make sure our students have access to what they need over the coming weeks.

This change is an adjustment for all of us. People, especially young people, respond to change and adversity in different ways. Our counseling team has put together a variety of resources that may help you talk to your children about their needs during this time. While we will continue to provide a quality educational experience for our students, our primary goal is our students’ health, which includes mental health. Our teachers and counselors will be touching base with families regularly, but please, I encourage you to contact us if you have any questions. We will do our best to provide the services and resources you need.

More information will be shared with you in the coming days. Thank you for your patience and understanding. This has been a monumental undertaking for everyone involved and I am deeply proud of the way this community has stood together during this crisis. You are not alone. Together, we can overcome these challenges.
