Brentwood Eagles Staff Spotlight: Tracy Russo
May 23, 2023
Brentwood middle and high school nurse Tracy Russo is this month’s Brentwood Eagles Staff Spotlight. Russo has been serving students, staff and families as a school nurse for 16 years, including the last seven years at BMS and BHS. She is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.
Russo is responsible for the health and wellness needs of more than 450 students and staff each day. She administers medications, treats minor injuries and serves as a resource for health-related issues and health education. Her clinic is known as a safe place where students and staff can get the help and support they need, from basic first aid to a quick snack between classes.
“Tracy’s care, compassion and expertise have made a positive impact on student learning, growth and achievement at BMS and BHS,” said Dr. Alex Tripamer, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. “She is an invaluable resource for our school community.”
In addition to her duties as a school nurse, Russo has worked with high school students to help them create a mental health awareness club. She coordinates the district’s annual flu shot clinic and was recognized by her colleagues as Brentwood’s Support Staff Person of the Year in 2022.
When she is not in the clinic, Russo enjoys antique auctions and spending time with her two grandchildren.
