Brentwood Eagles Teacher Feature: Shelley Krause
May 9, 2023
Brentwood Early Childhood Center preschool teacher Shelley Krause is this month’s Brentwood Eagles Teacher Feature. Krause has been serving students and families in the Sky Room for 11 years. She is certified in early childhood education and will earn a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis this spring.
Krause is responsible for developing the social, emotional and language skills of the district’s youngest learners. Her 2- and 3-year-old students start the year learning school rules and routines, as well as how to work and play with their peers. Once this foundation is established, she mixes in academic lessons that keep students engaged and on track with learning targets and growth goals.
Krause views herself as an ambassador for the district. She recognizes the importance of building strong relationships with her students and families, and the positive impact these relationships can have as families begin their educational journeys in Brentwood.
“Shelley is an incredible resource for our families, and she enjoys working side by side with them to help their children learn and grow,” said BECC Director Kristin Clemons. “Her passion for early childhood education is contagious, and our community is lucky to have her serving its youngest learners.”
In addition to teaching, Krause serves as the school’s mentor teacher and Professional Development Committee representative. She has been a member of the Brentwood community since 2005, and all three of her children attended Brentwood schools. Her hobbies include hiking, camping and kayaking.
