District Names First Eagle Eye for Equity Recipients

Eagle Eye for Equity Winners

Brentwood School District has recognized three members of its community with the Eagle Eye for Equity Award. Recipients will be recognized publicly at the December 20th Board of Education Recognition Night. Please join us in congratulating the following people for their efforts in making Brentwood a welcoming and inclusive place for all:

  • Cindy Neu, McGrath Principal
  • Danielle Bowen, District Social Worker
  • Jonas Wall, BHS Student

The “Eagle-Eye on Equity” is a recognition of a staff member, student, parent, or other community member who has gone above and beyond in the pursuit of equity in Brentwood School District, both in and out of the classroom. This award will help us celebrate equity as a point of pride in our community.

Nominees were collected during first semester and a committee composed of staff, faculty, family, and community members conducted blind scoring to select the recipients. Nominations were judged using the following criteria:
  • How the nominee fosters equality of opportunity in the community;
  • How the nominee encourages diverse perspectives; and
  • How the nominee creates a welcoming and supportive community culture.

In addition to the recipients, the district would like to recognize all those who were nominated. To be nominated alone is a great honor, meaning another member of the community took valuable time to recognize these individuals' efforts to promote a welcoming environment for all. Please join us in congratulating all of the nominees:

  • Travena Hostetler
  • Donna Knobbe
  • Alex Ziegler
  • Hannah Katz-Urvan
  • Melody O'Brien

Nominations for the next round of the award will open during second semester. We encourage you to take time to nominate those promoting the work of equity within our community when nominations re-open.

Once again, congratulations to all of our nominees and recipients for the inaugural Eagle Eye for Equity Award!
