End of Year Update

End of School Year

Dear Brentwood Community,

Please allow me to share my sincere gratitude for all you have done this past school year in support of our students and their learning. Despite many challenges, we managed to adapt to challenging circumstances and provide a quality education to our students. Of course, this is also because of the dedication of our students themselves. Thank you for putting in another year’s worth of hard work, grit, and determination in the face of adversity.

As we finalize our school year, know how grateful we are to our educators and support staff who rose to the occasion, learned new ways to work, and never wavered in their commitment to providing for our students. If you have not done so, please take a moment to reach out to any educators you know and thank them for their hard work. We are lucky to have such a dedicated staff and I am humbled by the support and collaboration that took place every day this year.

While we have a lot to celebrate in the 2020-2021 school year, please know that I and the rest of our administration team are already planning for the new school year. While many things related to COVID-19 have fallen into routine, we are still faced with the need to adapt to an evolving situation. As always, know that every decision we make will be with the health and safety of our students and staff as our top priority.

Over the past year, our community has done incredible work in keeping each other safe. One of the best things we can do to protect each other and our students is to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. After you’ve been fully vaccinated, you can start to do some things that you had to stop doing because of the pandemic. Here are some other Key Things to Know about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Starting next week, our community will begin to see the initial stages of our elementary facilities upgrades taking place. Initial sitework will begin on the McGrath campus and we appreciate your patience and support as we begin these efforts. Please know we are committed to working with our stakeholders to make the right decisions for our students and their learning environment. I encourage you to visit www.brentwoodmoschools.org/facilities to stay up-to-date on the elementary facilities progress. Once complete, all of our buildings will be equipped to provide safe, comfortable, and contemporary learning environments for generations of Brentwood students.

While the school year may be over, please know that our work towards racial justice and our commitment to supporting and elevating our Black and African American families does not end. We will continue to share resources and provide opportunities for our community to learn together in order to build a more equitable future for historically marginalized populations. Wherever you are in your journey, we are here to help and support you.

This summer, we will continue to communicate with you about what to expect for the start of school in the Fall. In the meantime, please have a safe, happy, and healthy summer break.

Once again, thank you for all you’ve done for our students and community.
