American Rescue Plan (ESSER)

Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER)

Background

Public school districts, including Brentwood, will receive a one-time allocation of COVID-19 relief money from the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). To receive these funds allocated under the plan, school districts must include information on their website addressing: COVID-19 mitigation and prevention strategies; continuity of services during interruptions to in-person learning; and periodic review and revision of the district's plan.

In the 2020-2021 school year, Brentwood offered both in-person and virtual learning options for students. Similar learning options were offered in Fall 2021. Detailed information on plans for in-person and virtual learning can be found in our Re-Entry Plan. This portion of the website is updated regularly to account for the district's need to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances of COVID-19. Please see the "last revised" date on the Re-Entry Plan page for details on when the plan was last revised.

COVID-19 Universal Precautions

The Re-Entry Plan page has detailed information about the district's mitigation and prevention strategies for COVID-19. These details are reviewed here for quick reference related to ESSER.

Additional Details

Continuity of Services

Brentwood School District is committed to providing a quality education to all students, regardless of circumstances. In the event of school closures due to COVID-19, or in the event individual students must be excluded for extended periods of time, students will have the ability to learn virtually using any combination of the following tools:

  • Livestream broadcasts with their teacher during active instruction.
  • Coursework and collaboration with teachers and peers delivered by Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Two-way parent/staff communication via ParentSquare.

These tools will provide continuity of education in the event of student isolation or exclusion. For more information, please review our page on Virtual Learning

Periodic Revision of Re-Entry Plans

Brentwood School District's Re-Entry plans and strategies related to COVID-19 will be reviewed at a minimum of each academic quarter (every 9 weeks) with modifications made as necessary. The main page of the Re-Entry Plan includes a "last revised" date to indicate the last time the plan was updated with new information. With new COVID variants emerging and new mitigation strategies being developed, our community should expect our plan to be updated regularly with the latest information and guidance.

Public Input

The public is invited to provide feedback and input on the district's plans. Updates about the plan are regularly shared in open session during Board of Education meetings and via posts on the district website, social media, email, and local press (including The Pulse newspaper. In addition to community-specific surveys that are shared throughout the year, the public is able to participate in providing input using the following means:

  • Public comments at Board of Education Meetings. For details, please see our Board of Education page.
  • Feedback form on the Re-Entry Plan website.
  • Stakeholder group meetings such as building PTO meetings and other formal and informal focus groups called to meet by the district throughout the year.

The district's Community Engagement Strategic Plan Committee will review opportunities for additional public input as needed throughout the school year.
