Substitute teachers play a important role in supporting student learning and maintaining the continuity of instruction when regular classroom teachers are absent. At Brentwood, we value our substitute teachers as essential members of our school community. Due to the large volume of applicants, we carefully review resumes and certification information and select candidates as needed. Please note that submitting an application does not automatically add a candidate to our substitute teacher list. Selected substitutes are expected to remain available and work frequently—especially on high-demand days like Mondays and Fridays—while keeping their non-workday calendar and call time preferences up to date in the Frontline Absence Management.

All substitute teachers must hold a valid content substitute or teaching certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Individuals with a Missouri teaching certificate who wish to substitute teach are no longer required by DESE to apply for a separate substitute certificate.
