High School Sophomore Selected for Missouri Scholars Academy

Brentwood High School sophomore Violet Abshier has been selected to attend the Missouri Scholars Academy this summer at the University of Missouri-Columbia, a prestigious honor recognizing some of the state’s most academically talented students.

Abshier will represent Brentwood High School as part of a group of 330 rising juniors from across Missouri who have demonstrated strong academic achievement, curiosity and leadership.

The Missouri Scholars Academy is a three-week residential program designed to challenge and inspire gifted students through an engaging academic and social experience. Hosted on the University of Missouri campus, the program includes a major area of study, a secondary academic minor and a unique component known as “Cor,” which focuses on personal growth, leadership and social development.

Students take part in advanced coursework, collaborative learning and a variety of extracurricular activities, all within a supportive “community of scholars” that encourages the sharing of ideas and new perspectives.

“Violet’s selection to the Missouri Scholars Academy is a reflection of her hard work, curiosity and commitment to learning,” said Dr. Edward Johnson, Brentwood High School principal. “We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and excited to see how this experience will continue to shape her growth as a student and leader.”

Since its founding in 1985, the Missouri Scholars Academy has served more than 12,000 students, offering a unique opportunity for high-achieving learners to grow academically, build connections and explore future pathways.
