Mark Twain and McGrath elementary schools have earned national recognition as Bright Spots Top Schools for outperforming expectations in third grade literacy.

The recognition is part of the Bright Spots project from The 74, a nonprofit education newsroom. The data-driven project identifies schools across the country where third grade reading achievement is exceeding expectations based on student demographics and other factors.

“Having both of our elementary schools recognized is a testament to the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers and staff,” said Stacey Taylor, English language arts curriculum coordinator. “It also reflects the important partnership we have with our families as we work together to help every student build the strong literacy skills they need to succeed.”
