School Improvement and Annual Performance
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) uses the Missouri School Improvement Program, now in its sixth version (MSIP 6), to understand how well school districts are supporting student learning. MSIP 6 looks at both student results and the systems districts put in place to promote strong instruction, continuous improvement and long-term success.
Each year, DESE releases Annual Performance Report (APR) results for every district and most individual schools in the state. DESE also calculates a three-year composite APR score, which averages multiple years of data to give a more stable, long-term view of district performance.
Together, MSIP 6 and the APR help the state monitor quality and, over time, inform accreditation decisions.
How Brentwood Is Performing?
The Brentwood School District continues to rank among Missouri’s highest-performing districts in the latest Annual Performance Reports. The district achieved a three-year composite score of 95.8%, placing it in the Accredited with Distinction range — the highest level in the MSIP 6 system. Brentwood is one of only three K-12 districts statewide, and the only district in the St. Louis region, to earn this distinction.
Brentwood’s 2024-25 APR score of 95.4% also reflects exceptional performance, placing the district among the top 10 of more than 500 districts statewide. These results demonstrate strong student achievement and growth across core academic areas, high graduation outcomes and continued progress on success-ready measures aligned to MSIP 6.
Together, the annual and composite scores highlight both current academic excellence and sustained success over time. Brentwood students continue to meet or exceed state expectations across multiple measures, and the district has shown consistent progress in both performance and continuous-improvement indicators.
