Virtual Learning

Virtual learning provides an alternative to traditional in-person instruction. Certified teachers engage with students online to deliver lessons, lead discussions and provide personalized support. Full- and part-time virtual learning programs are available to all eligible students. Additionally, virtual learning days may be used in place of traditional school days as approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Virtual programs combine live instruction, small-group and one-on-one support, and independent coursework. Successful students demonstrate motivation to learn, strong time management and self-advocacy skills, a readiness for independent learning, and proficiency with technology.

Launch Virtual Learning

Launch Virtual Learning is a statewide K-12 virtual school provider operated by Springfield Public Schools, Missouri’s largest school district. The program offers full-time and per-course enrollment options for public, private and charter school students across Missouri. Families can also enroll full time in Launch through the Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP). Students who enroll outside of MOCAP remain in their home district and earn credits through a cooperating school district agreement.

Launch operates on three core beliefs:

A collaborative approach to virtual course access solutions is key to student success.

Designed, developed and delivered by Missouri educators, Launch offers more than 500 courses and serves over 100,000 enrollments annually.

Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program

The Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) provides K-12 students with access to high-quality, interactive online courses that can be completed anytime, anywhere. Students can take courses from any internet-connected device, offering flexibility for those seeking specialized coursework, credit recovery, or an alternative learning environment.

Missouri-certified teachers facilitate MOCAP courses, ensuring quality instruction. The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the State Board of Education oversee the program to maintain content standards and delivery quality.

MOCAP expands learning opportunities by:

Providing courses in subjects not available in a student’s school district.
Offering instruction when no qualified teacher is available.
Supporting students with scheduling conflicts.
Serving students in alternative education settings or home and hospital instruction.
Extending learning time for students who need additional support.

St. Louis Virtual Campus

The St. Louis Virtual Campus partners with St. Louis County school districts to provide a flexible online learning option for students. The program offers specialized and upper-level asynchronous courses through Schoology, its learning management system. Students communicate with instructors and peers primarily through email, chats, and discussion boards, with online meetings available as needed via Zoom or Google Meet.

St. Louis Virtual Campus allows students to extend and enrich their learning while completing a portion of their high school coursework. Courses are designed to accommodate a variety of learning styles and needs, ensuring a high-quality virtual learning experience while maintaining local connections.
