Alternative Methods of Instruction
In 2019, the Missouri state legislature passed SB604, allowing school districts to use an Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Plan on days when there is an unexpected school or district closure. The 2020-2021 school year is the first year districts in Missouri have been able to implement these plans.
AMI Plans can be used any time there is an unexpected closure due to things like inclement weather or utility outages. In Brentwood, our AMI plans will be implemented virtually and will follow a set schedule of synchronous learning and asynchronous coursework. On AMI days, students will login to Canvas to access their classes and lessons.
Whenever we communicate a school or district closure, we will communicate whether or not our AMI Plans are in effect. If the AMI Plan is in effect, students and families can anticipate following the sample schedules below or login to their CANVAS profile for more information and instructions.
