Special Education
About Our Services
Some of our learners require differentiated services during their educational careers. Brentwood School District, in partnership with Special School District of St. Louis County, collaborates with students, families, and staff so that students with special needs may realize their potential as we work to ensure that each child in our district is seen and supported along their individual pathway.
Brentwood School District partners with Special School District of St. Louis County, to provide special education services to eligible students in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Students with an educational disability may access additional learning supports through special education with an Individualized Education Plan, an IEP. Other students may have a disability that limits their learning or another major life activity, such as hearing or walking. These students may have a Section 504 Accommodation Plan. Students receive specially designed, direct services in order to progress toward annual short- and long-term, educationally relevant goals as outlined by these plans.
The Special School District of St. Louis County's unique status as a public school district ensures that all local students receive equal access to quality special education services. In collaboration with partner districts, SSD provides technical education and a wide variety of individualized educational and support services designed for each student's successful contribution to our community.
